Let’s Walk
Podcast
I’ve used a manual wheelchair for the past 20 years. But last year I got a new chair, it’s electric, and it can be raised so I can be at eye level with people.
My old chair was very restrictive, I wasn’t able to move around outside without assistance. The new chair changed all that and for the first time in decades I was able to go outside on walks.
And much like Forrest Gump I went outside and I didn’t stop. I went out for multiple hours at a time. My world changed and I quickly realized that being outside, and on the move, made me think differently. I started to go on long walks with people.
People who I had known for a long time, and when I ran out of those I started walking with new people. On these long walks I had conversations that were different to the ones I had had inside. And, as a white man with a beard, the natural next step was to start a podcast.
First it was in Icelandic. I went on long walks with all sorts of creative people and we talked about their life, work, passion and how they got where they are.
And since I travel a lot for my work I started to do the same thing in English. In each city I go to I walk with creative people, actors, musicians, entrepreneurs, directors, producers, authors. People I admire and want to learn more about.
Guests include actors Matt Dillon and Andy Richter, authors Seth Godin and Valeria Luiselli, and Jing Gao, founder of Fly by Jing. And of course, many, many more.
