Haus.fest 2026
On 13 June, Hafnar.haus welcomed the public to haus.fest 2026, an afternoon celebrating the people, projects and creative energy that fill the building throughout the year.
Studios and shared spaces opened their doors, allowing visitors to meet artists, musicians, designers, filmmakers, technologists and entrepreneurs. The programme featured live music, workshops, games, exhibitions and experiments, giving guests a glimpse into the work being created inside one of Reykjavík’s largest creative communities.
The event included speeches from Haraldur Thorleifsson, co-founder of Haus, and Logi Már Einarsson, Iceland’s Minister of Culture, Innovation and Higher Education. Haraldur spoke about the importance of collaboration, arguing that meaningful work and lasting value are rarely created alone, but through communities of people working together.
Logi officially opened the festival with a speech about the cultural and social importance of places such as Haus. He highlighted the need for spaces where creative people from different disciplines can meet, exchange ideas and develop their work.
More than a traditional open house, haus.fest demonstrated what can happen when hundreds of creative people share not only a building, but knowledge, resources and a sense of community. The festival captured the central idea behind Haus: that creativity grows when people are given the space and support to experiment together.
