Hafnar.haus Opens

A community and co-working space for creative people in the heart of Reykjavík.

Hafnar.haus is a new non-profit creative community located above the Reykjavík Art Museum. “We have almost 300 members working across our 3500m2 of space.” says Haraldur.

“Our members are musicians, writers, designers, developers, film makers, artists, entrepreneurs and so much more.”

The community was started by Haraldur who put together a founding team and funded the initiative.

“We have almost 100 private studios and an open plan coworking space at affordable rates. Members have access to meeting rooms, a photo studio, recording and podcast studio, all sorts of things needed to make an idea come alive. We offer daily, cheap, and healthy communal lunches, multiple events every week, all sorts of clubs, exhibitions, workshops, performances, art markets, residencies. And most importantly, a community of like minded people, all working to make this an inclusive space for all kinds creatives.”

Partnering with the City of Reykjavík, Hafnar.haus is housed in a previously unused part of a building owned by the city, bringing life and creativity to the downtown area.
