Reykjavík Accessibility Recognition

The Reykjavík City Accessibility Recognition is awarded to individuals, groups, non-profit organizations, companies or institutions that have remarkably protected good accessibility in a variety of ways. The City of Reykjavík has set a policy on accessibility to be at the forefront of changing attitudes towards people with disabilities and their accessibility needs. The city’s housing and open spaces should be accessible to citizens regardless of their accessibility needs.

The recognition is intended to raise the profile of accessibility and highlight the good work being done in this area. Good accessibility in the broad sense of the term is an important human rights issue and the foundation for people with diverse accessibility needs to be able to participate in society on an equal basis. The accessibility recognition is an encouragement to companies, social organizations and private parties to do even better in accessibility.
