Haus Opens A New Location for Creatives

The new space, called Hlemmur.haus adds another 2500 sqm and room for up to 200 more people to join the Haus community of creative people.

Haus was founded as a non-profit in 2022 when the first location opened above the Reykjavík Art Museum in downtown Reykjavík. Now home to almost 300 creative people making everything from movies, to music to dildos, it has become the largest creative community in Iceland

“When we opened Hafnar.haus, it became clear straight away that the need was there, we were flooded with applications”, says Halli. “After a few weeks we had to close our waiting list when it was reaching 500 people”.

“Since then we’ve been looking for a new place where we could expand the community. This location by Hlemmur was by far the best option of the many we’ve looked at. The location is fantastic, the neighborhood is going through a revival, it’s big enough, and the owner was able to give us a great deal that we can pass on to our members in the form of affordable rent.”

Hlemmur.haus opens officially on October 1st 2025, with applications starting on September 2nd.
