Ramp Up Announces Plans To Build 200 Ramps in Panama City, Panama
The project is done in close collaboration with the Mayor’s office and is set to be completed within one year with plans to expand it further if goals are met.
With over 1 million people living in and around the city, Panama City is a growing capital. But accessibility is lacking as in many other cities.
The plan to build 200 ramps in the city will be targeted at areas where the most people meet to shop, eat, meet friends and family.
“Seeing the immediate impact of Ramp Up in Iceland was astounding”, says founder Haraldur Thorleifsson. “People who have had limited abilities to be a real part of their communities suddenly have access to places they’ve never been able to go to before.”
If the project goes well plans assume the project will grow to up to 1000 ramps to be built within the city in the coming years. “The catalyst for us picking Panama City was the enthusiasm of the cities Mayor to help fast track the project and put time, money and resources into making this happen fast and effeciently. I’m incredibly grateful to him and his team for their commitment to making Panama more accessible” says Haraldur.
