Twitter
Innovation team
Twitter acquired my agency, Ueno, in 2021 and me and my team joined the company. I created and led the Innovation team, that was responsible for creating new products across the platform as well as working on a new brand and a complete organizational re-development.
In 2023, I was accidentally let go from Twitter. I had a brief discussion about this with Elon on the platform until he graciously apologized and offered me my job back.
I thanked him but ultimately decided it was time to move on. Below you can see a few examples of the work my team did while I was there.
The main product
When big events happened, people flocked to Twitter. But they didn’t stick around and turn into regular users. We decided to change that.
We built a new vision for the product to rally the company behind, as well as building a new brand.
From the first interaction we wanted to make sure people found their interests, we built communities into the product, created new interaction models, enhanced moderation opportunities, and updated how the product felt across the board.
Developers
Twitter was a small company, fraction of their competitors. We decided to turn a perceived weakness into a strength and get external developers to build new and exciting features directly into the app.
We created three distinct product surfaces to make it easier for developers to build and maintain their offerings, as well as unifying the product experience for our users.
And we built products so publications could host Twitter conversations inside their own sites and apps.
We started with a brand new marketplace where developers could share and even sell their innovations.
Revenue
Our users and advertisers wanted to use Twitter to spend and make money. But the product made that extremely complicated.
We helped grow the bottom line at Twitter by giving our users and customers what they wanted.
We made it easy to start ad campaigns on the platform, for people that wanted to spend a few bucks to companies looking to spend millions. We built shopping features, cross promotional tools for influences to connect directly with brands and recommendation engines to help improve campaigns.
